Happy Anniversary to Me!

Happy Anniversary, Japan!

Yes, I'm a day late. But as most of you know, in "Rowland Time," I'm right on time.

I can't believe it's been a month that we've been together! It feels like just yesterday I walked off the plane a terrified little American girl consequently wearing the same t-shirt I'm wearing at this very moment (weird). One month later, I'm still a terrified little American girl wearing this t-shirt. BUT I have one month of experience living in Japan. That changes everything.

Looking back on the past month, I've determined that it would be hard to leave this place right now. The connections I've made with other people grow stronger everyday and I feel like there is so much more adventure to be had. It's a hard question when people ask me if I LOVE Japan. It's a weird place here. They eat bacon a lot and call it "pork." They wear tights that make it look like you have tattoos. Also, they get tattoos in a language they can't even understand. The list goes on and on - it's just weird. I don't love every minute and I'm by no means adjusted to the lifestyle or the culture or my morning commute, but I'd miss it if someone were to take this away from me right now. I guess that means I'm on my way to loving it? Maybe that's something that will just come with time.

But as of right now, in this moment, one day after my one month anniversary with Japan, I'm officially committed to this relationship. There's no going back now! (not sure there ever was.)

So if you'd like to send me an anniversary present, here's my address! (shameless plug. send love, please!)
